Why I became a Doula
When my son was born it was the most incredible moment of my entire life; my first thought when I pushed my baby out and felt his warm, wet, little body on mine was, "I did it! I'm so proud right now!" The fact that I had created life from tiny cells in my body into an entire human being and birthed him vaginally (with no medications or complications) was, to me, a miracle. I then saw women as super heroes and goddesses of creation and life (no matter how they birthed)!
After two years of raising my child and hearing my friend's birth stories, and many other stories from acquaintances, I became very eager to hear more and do something to help my pregnant friends; The disappointing part was how many women retold their experience as a negative experience. I gently remind these women how incredible they are for making a human and no matter how they birthed that child they are still amazing for all that their body had to endure. After an impactful dream I had, I knew I had to add to my career repertoire... I just knew within my soul I needed to be a doula to guide women on one of the most indescribable journey's in life. For those who like privacy in labor and birth, I fully respect that, I actually didn't use a doula for my own son's birth, but I wish I had! I can still help through pregnancy and postpartum. For those who will allow me to be alongside their journey, I will be truly honored and forever grateful if you should choose me to guide and support you through your pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum times.

What I offer: 24/7 support. You can text, call, email, meet with me as much as you feel comfortable doing so.

My role as the doula: I provide informational, physical, and emotional support. I am not there to take over for your partner (unless you have no partner); I am there to guide you both and instruct your partner on ways to help you while in labor. I also support all races and LGBTQIA people.

To be upfront, I have no religious preference but I will respect and honor those who have a chosen faith and if requested I can use your faith to guide you. I like to educate myself on all religions so to choose one specific religion was never something I felt I needed to do since so many religions have many interesting facets I can connect with.

Areas from my education I can serve you best include: aromatherapy, acupressure, herbalism, health and wellness, nutrition, positive wellbeing, pregnancy and labor stages, skincare, yoga instruction, hypno-birthing, pranayama (breathing) techniques, pain-management in labor and birthing, massage, labor and birthing positions, infant aftercare, baby soothing techniques, and lactation support.

I support all types of birth choices and environments; I assist in home births, hospitals, and birth centers.

FAQ'S

Why do doulas cost so much?
Labor and birth are a LONG! If you work a 30 hour work week you'd expect your payment at the end of the week, correct? We doulas sometimes work up to 30 hours STRAIGHT! Also when we do pre-labor support and postpartum, that's even more hours of work. For most doulas, this is their only job and time away from family and sleeplessness are worth compensating any doula. It also takes some of us several days to recover (physically with sleep and soreness from helping mamas). As much as we ADORE being a doula, we have to charge to make a living. Personally I keep my pricing on the lower end compared to almost all the other Austin area Doulas, because I don't want any woman to feel she can't afford extra support.
are there payment plans available?
With me, absolutely! Three choices: Pay 100% now, Pay 50% now 50% later, or Pay in 3 installments
Is a Doula worth it?
Absolutely! If you have any concerns, fears, or worries about anything at all, especially the pain, we are such a great source for physical and emotional support. We also teach your partner some helpful ways to soothe you! We are also great for doing so many little things you wouldn't have thought to do, bring, or ask at the hospital or birth center. Extra bonus: after labor I even offer to grab food for the new parents if the hospital cafeteria is closed and you can't order. I've even gone to someone's home to get their nursing bras they forgot; I'd do anything for my clients.
